The image shown here under represents good part of the hilly territory of Carmignano. Starting from the right side you can see the church of the saints Michael and Francis (XII century) where you can admire "La visitazione" of the Pontormo (cloth, 1528 -1529). The ancient Fortress of Carmignano lies just over with his bell tower, which was built in 1125 d.c. On the left you can notice the Montalbano, a mountainous relief that covers 16.000 hectares among the provinces of Pistoia, Prato and Florence, in the territories of the municipalities of Serravalle Pistoiese, Montelupo Fiorentino, Capraia e Limite, Vinci e Cerreto Guidi. The hilly and mountainous system separates superior and inferior Valdarno, reaching the height of 627 m over sea level.
